Ernest "Ernie" Khaw
|
Having spent his childhood in Myanmar, Ernie has always had a heart to return and give back to that region. That desire began in his early years when he, his parents and four siblings immigrated to the United States in 1979. His family moved to Oregon and settled in the city of Portland.
Ernie went to high school and college in Oregon, studied at Oregon State University and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1988. He continued his education and earned a Master of Science Degree from Oregon Graduate Institute in 1990. Since college, he has been working as an Engineer and a Manager in the Semiconductor Industry. Ernie and his wife Maria have four children and reside in Hillsboro, Oregon. Over the past few years Ernie has been traveling to Myanmar to meet with friends and associates. These regular contacts have increased a concern that there is something he can do to help the people of the country where he was born and spent his childhood. He has seen the living conditions and lack of education for the children from underprivileged families. In discussions with associates in Myanmar and his brother, Patrick, they decided the need is there and they could help. In 2015 ForgetNot International was formed to assist the underprivileged children in Myanmar, by giving them an opportunity to pursue an education they might not have otherwise. |
